Resolving B.C.'s Drug Crisis

British Columbia has spent years searching for answers to the toxic drug crisis. Public debate often focuses on individual policies—harm reduction, treatment, decriminalization, enforcement, or recovery—but lasting solutions are unlikely to come from any single approach.

This blog entry echoes an article that appeared in the Victoria News on May 24th, 2026, that explored my mission to improve the lives of those with substance use issues and other problematic behaviours. Over the years I discovered that my daily glass or two of wine had quietly become an addiction, and the challenges and triumphs I experienced in letting go inspired me to put pen to paper. This article explores the genesis of my book The Science and Spirituality of Addiction, and how I plan to take my work in the recovery community to the next level.
